Dr. Giacomo Lamporesi is a Senior Researcher at CNR in Trento, where he works on sodium BEC experiments. He got a PhD at the University of Florence, building a cold atom-based gravity sensor for a precision measurement of G. Then he moved to JILA in Boulder, Colorado, where he studied vortices in rotating BECs and investigated the BKT transition in 2D systems. Back to Florence for a second postdoc experience, he focussed on the physics of heteronuclear K-Rb mixtures in reduced and mixed dimensionality. Since 2011, in Trento he has been doing many experiments on solitons and vortices and recently he is exploring the magnetic properties of coherently coupled quantum spin mixtures.
